School & Community Education Programs

Callaway Electric offers community education programs to local schools and civic groups. These are available in our service area year round, with the focus being on electric safety and keeping our members and their families safe. The key is to learn to appreciate and respect the electrical energy available and use it in a very efficient way.

During 2010, the Cooperative made 18 visits to local schools for safety presentations. The programs were primarily presented to 3rd-6th graders, reaching over 1,825 area students. Hopefully, some of the content of the programs made it home to the parents. Topics typically include indoor and outdoor electrical safety, how circuits operate - including series and parallel, the process of electric generation, careers in electricity and conservation and wise use of energy.
